People Policy

Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) provides a fair and equal work place for all employees that is free from all forms of discrimination and complies with all relevant regulatory, legislative, administrative and organisational requirements for all employees, contractors, visitors and guests.

This policy will be reviewed annually, in accordance with updated performance criteria and compliance requirements.

Family Violence Policy

GMW's Family Violence policy is intended to increase awareness and continuously improve GMW’s processes and practices relating to family violence.

These include but are not limited to:

  • providing a safe and secure environment for both customers and employees
  • counselling services
  • financial assistance such as flexible or deferred payment arrangements to assist any person experiencing family violence and assist in responding to the needs of victims, whether they are GMW customers or employees.

GMW seeks to create a safe and secure environment where customers and employees are aware of the support available and are comfortable in requesting confidential assistance for family violence related concerns

GMW actively endorses measures to support customers and employees who are experiencing family violence; the safety of our customers and employees is paramount.              

To provide a safe and healthy workplace at any of our locations. GMW will offer appropriate support and assistance to customers and employees who are victims of family violence.

Last year, the ESC published a set of amendments to the water customer service codes as a result of the 2016 Royal Commission into Family Violence. This policy, and GMW’s subsequent supporting procedures will ensure GMW is equipped to handle situation that arises with best practice processes.

Flood Operations Policy 

This policy defines GMW’s operational practice for routing floods through the large water storages under its control, including pre-releasing and surcharging actions and managing floods through its irrigation areas. This policy applies to pre-release flood operation at Lake Eildon, Cairn Curran Reservoir, Lake Buffalo, Lake Eppalock, Lake Nillahcootie, Tullaroop Reservoir and Laanecoorie Reservoir; surcharging storages during flood events, including Lake Buffalo, Lake Eildon, and Cairn Curran Reservoir, from which spillway gates regulate flood flows; and managing floods through the Goulburn-Murray Irrigation District (GMID) irrigation network.

Seasonal Determinations Policy

Seasonal determinations are the means for sharing available water between individual entitlement holders each year. 

GMW is appointed by the Minister for Water under section 64GA of the Act to be responsible for making seasonal determinations under section 64GB in respect of the Murray, Broken, Goulburn, Campaspe, Loddon, Bullarook and Ovens declared water systems.

Terms for Delivery of Water (Conditions Determination)

This determination applies to the delivery of water by GMW in the Goulburn-Murray, Nyah and Tresco Irrigation Districts from water delivery systems that have been declared under section 6A of the Water Act.
