Price list released while focus on costs continues

Friday 5 July, 2019

Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) has released its 2019/20 price list to customers as part of its annual price review.

The pricing update takes place annually and is regulated by the Essential Services Commission (ESC) on behalf of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

GMW is now undertaking a more substantive review of services, also overseen by the ESC, which takes place every four years and will set GMW’s price path from July 2020 through to 2024.

“We have been reducing our operating costs over time and this is reflected in the final year of the 2016-2020 price review,” Managing Director Charmaine Quick said.

“I am committed to ensuring this downward price path not only continues but accelerates into the next pricing submission,” she said.

“Indeed, GMW is in the process of a major transformation of our business to ensure we remain sustainable in meeting the challenges posed by climate change, declining water availability and a changing customer base. At the same time, we must maintain our diverse asset base and continually improve our service efficiency.

“In recent months we have been engaging with hundreds of our customers through online surveys and face-to-face discussions at drop-in days, workshops and meetings with our Water Services Committees to get their input into our next pricing submission.

"It’s all about going back to basics – knowing the needs of our customers, providing the level of service they deserve and doing so at a fair price.”

The recently released 2019/20 price list is available on GMW’s website at www.g-mwater.com.au/customer-services/pricing.
