Required notice for ordering water

In systems that have not been fully modernised 48 hours notice is required for each water order placed. This enables planning to improve channel supply efficiency and reduces system losses and the number of adjustments required at regulators.

In modernised systems automation of the channel system and planning means that much shorter notice for orders is available. 24 hours is the required notice period for customers on a fully automated system.

New options in WaterLINE

From the start of the 2022/23 season customers will have the ability to make some changes to their flow rate and finish time depending on their order and the system they’re in.

These changes can be managed in WaterLINE via the “Operating Orders” option, without the need for customers to contact a Water System Operator.

Orders will still be scheduled and planned by Water System Operators, but customers will now have the option to alter their order flow or duration, and customise their order notice requirements through WaterLINE.

The ability to make changes will be capped depending on the system the customer is in so GMW can continue to ensure efficient delivery of water to all customers.

Some GMW customers already have the ability to change their orders without contacting a Water System Operator – this service will remain the same for those customers.

Customers who currently need to contact a Water System Operator to alter their order will now have the ability to do so via WaterLINE; by how much will depend on the order and the system they are in.

For more information, or help in how to manage your orders, phone our Water System Operator team on 1300 469 469.
