Bridge replacement works on Echuca-Nanneella Road

Thursday 23 June, 2022

Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) will soon begin replacing a bridge over the Rochester 11 Channel on Echuca-Nanneella Road with a pipe culvert.

The project will commence on Wednesday 29 June and is expected to be complete by Wednesday 20 July, weather dependant.

The stretch of Echuca-Nanneella Road between Odea Road and Webb Road will be closed for the duration of the works, with a detour via the Northern Highway. Local traffic will still be permitted.

GMW field services manager Tony Corbett said replacing the bridge will improve safety for the road’s users.

“The bridge was constructed in the early 1960s and has deteriorated significantly. The new bridge will meet modern OHS standards and provide far safer passage for the many heavy vehicles that will use it,” he said.

“To reduce any unnecessary impact, we are liaising with emergency services so they can adjust their routes accordingly.

“Please remember to take extra care when using these roads, as there will be increased traffic and heavy vehicles in the area.”

The project will cost approximately $280,000 and will be funded through GMW’s Capital Works Program.
