Temporary bridge access closure at Eildon Spillway

Thursday 7 January, 2021

The bridge access at Eildon Spillway will be closed on Monday (18 January 2021) to undertake important maintenance works.

Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) Dam Safety Manager, David Jeffery said the bridge would be closed between 8.00am and 5.00pm to allow for an inspection of the under bridge, ahead of planned works in the area in February.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but it is important we undertake routine inspections and maintenance such as this to ensure our assets and storage sites remain in good order,” he said.

“The dam crest, viewing area, public boat ramp and parking areas will still be accessible via Sugarloaf Road and Eildon Alliance Drive.

“Please be mindful of safety signage and increased machinery and roadworks traffic in the vicinity of the works.”

The area affected is on the western approach to the spillway bridge (between the boat ramp and access track and the spillway) and on the eastern approach at the Pinniger Road turnoff on the Jerusalem Creek Road.

Following the bridge access inspection, GMW plans to complete spillway chute works in February, which will provide for repairs to deterioration in concrete in a number of joints in the chute floor.

The spillway chute floor works will not require further closure of the spillway bridge access.
