Delivery share information

We're here to help

Our team are able to provide you with a pre-populated form 35, 36, or a copy of your Water Register Delivery Share Copy of Record.

Please contact our staff via deliveryshare@gmwater.com.au to request assistance.

A delivery share is an entitlement to have water delivered to land through the delivery system (channels or pipes) in an irrigation area. It represents the property’s share of the available capacity in the delivery system and is measured in megalitres per day (ML/day).

Delivery shares are used to share access between properties during a rationing event. As they are tied to specific service points (outlets), the volume you can order depends on:

  • the service points’ delivery share, and
  • the percentage of delivery share set for the rationing event.

Outside of rationing, GMW can issue delivery share for stock and domestic purposes if there is spare capacity in the delivery system.

Where to find your delivery share information

You can find your delivery shares on WaterLINE, Water Register Delivery Share Copy of Record, Water Usage Statement, or by calling GMW.

Consider your delivery share options

If you have a service point that you’re not intending to use this year, you may like to consider varying or transferring the associated delivery share rate to another service point (subject to conditions).

Please contact our staff via deliveryshare@gmwater.com.au and they can help you by providing you with a pre-populated form or a copy of your Water Register Delivery Share Copy of Record.

Assessment process

Delivery share changes generally require a channel capacity assessment to ensure that the extra volume is available in the system - even outside of a rationing event. This means that approval is never guaranteed, and if other customers take up the channel capacity, it may be impossible to make the change.

See below for more information on delivery share options and conditions.

Options for delivery share changes

Option one: Vary delivery share rate between service points on the same delivery share (DSE)

You can apply to decrease your delivery share or to re-apportion delivery share between the service points on your property.

  • Form required:  Form 35 – Application to vary a delivery share
  • Cost: $285.00*
  • Approval requirements: Subject to a Channel Capacity Assessment. If the land is owned by a company, a company extract is required (must be produced within the last 12 months).
  • Processing time: GMW aims to process applications within 10 business days
  • Please note: If customers wish to reverse the variation, they will need to reapply by completing another Form 35 – Application to vary a delivery share and repeat the above process.

Option two: Transferring delivery rate between two delivery shares (DSE)

You can apply to increase or decrease your delivery share by transferring delivery share from or to another delivery share within the same delivery system.

  • Form required:  Form 36 - Application to permanently transfer delivery share
  • Cost: $285.00*
  • Approval requirements: Subject to a Channel Capacity Assessment. Mortgagee consent may be required if a mortgage exists on the land associated with the delivery share that is being decreased. If the land is owned by a company, a company extract is required (must be produced within the last 12 months).
  • Processing time: GMW aims to process applications within 10 business days
  • Eligibility: The delivery shares must be within the same delivery system (e.g. Murray Valley to Murray Valley) subject to the delivery share trading rules.
  • Please note: If customers wish to reverse the transfer, they will need to reapply by completing another Form 36 – Application to permanently transfer delivery share and repeat the above process.

Please note:

  • Any changes to a delivery share are permanent. Reversing the change will require a new application.
  • Approval is not guaranteed – other customers could take up the capacity, making it impossible to move the delivery share back.
  • Processing of delivery share changes may depend on where each customer is in their ordering cycle.

* GMW may waive the application fee associated with varying or transferring delivery shares for impacted customers.

Processing times and any other requirements or assessments associated with delivery share changes will still apply.
