The Minister for Water has received a report from the Strategic Advisory Panel and adopted its 30 recommendations.
Goulburn Murray Water (GMW) is Victoria’s largest rural water authority and covers approximately one third of the state, including the largest irrigation asset in the country – Goulburn-Murray Irrigation District – which generates $2.1 billion in agricultural production each year.
The Victorian Government is supporting GMW as it navigates the challenges of climate change, a changing customer base, upgraded irrigation infrastructure and reduced water availability.
In response to these challenges the Minister for Water Lisa Neville introduced a Strategic Advisory Panel to GMW in October last year. The Panel was tasked with assisting GMW to deliver its Strategic Plan. The group was assembled to produce a report outlining its recommendations in response to the challenges facing GMW in continuing to support this vital region of Victoria.
Minister Neville has now received a report from the Panel and adopted in full its 30 recommendations.
