Upgrade and maintenance works for Cairn Curran Reservoir

Wednesday 14 April, 2021

Vehicle access to Cairn Curran Reservoir will change and the embankment closed to the public from Monday 19 April while Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) undertakes a series of upgrade and maintenance works.

The works are scheduled to be undertaken from mid-April through to late August 2021, depending on weather conditions.

Access to the embankment will be closed to the public for the duration of the works, however the rest of the storage and its facilities will remain open.

Vehicles will no longer be able to access Cairn Curran Reservoir via the main entrance, but alternative access via Woolshed Bay will remain open.

GMW Loddon/Campaspe storage manager Paul Wakenshaw said the works were an important part of the maintenance schedule for the water corporation’s assets.

“Undertaking upgrades and maintenance works means our storages remain safe and fit-for-purpose, and we can continue to harvest, store and deliver water to our customers,” he said.

“There will be no change to the storage capacity of Cairn Curran Reservoir while we undertake the works, and there will be no change to the quality of water in the reservoir during and after the upgrade.

“We ask the public to be aware of the works if they are planning to visit Cairn Curran Reservoir, and to avoid the works area whilst still enjoying the public facilities.

All GMW staff and contractors will adhere to current Victorian Government COVIDSafe settings while undertaking the works.
