An issue has emerged at Torrumbarry Weir’s Lock 26 which requires its immediate closure.
The work will involve the complete dewatering of the lock for inspection. This will identify the maintenance works required and we will then know the duration of the closure.
This temporary closure of the lock will not affect the normal operation of Torrumbarry Weir in terms of river flow and water supply.
“It will mean recreational water users will be unable to use the lock to travel up or downstream until the lock is back in operation,” GMW Manager Dams Operations North, Tony Beamish said.
“We have informed local vessel operators of the lock closure and will continue to keep users informed on expected timeframes once known.”
If any vessel operators or visitors to the area would like more information on the lock closure, please phone GMW on 1800 013 357 or go to www.gmwater.com.au
