Greens Lake closed for New Year’s Eve

Tuesday 14 December, 2021

Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) is reminding the community that Greens Lake at Corop will be closed over New Year’s Eve to ensure public safety.

GMW Water Delivery Services general manager Warren Blyth said the region’s emergency services confirmed Greens Lake should close for the eighth consecutive year and would not be accessible for recreational activities by members of the public.

“Emergency services employees echoed community concerns for public safety, so it is our duty to close Greens Lake to avoid any tragedies occurring over the New Year’s holiday period,” Mr Blyth said.

“We are again closing the lake for a short period over New Year’s on this expert advice and in the interests of the wider community.”

The lake will be closed to the public from 10am on Friday, December 31, 2021 to noon on Saturday, January 1, 2022.

People who are camping at Greens Lake before the closure must remove their camps before leaving the area.

All visitors must also take their rubbish with them as part of GMW’s “carry-in, carry-out” policy.
