Channel bridge works at Pyramid Hill

Tuesday 1 June, 2021

Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) will begin works on a channel bridge crossing at Pyramid Hill from Sunday 6 June 2021.

The upgrade and maintenance works are part of GMW’s $8 million winter works program, which sees vital maintenance and upgrades take place across the water delivery network during the irrigation shutdown.

The bridge crossing over the No.1 channel along Pyramid-Yarraberb Road will be closed to traffic in both directions from Monday 31 July to Friday 2 July 2021. Localised road access will continue to be available to residents.

An alternate route will be signposted during the closure period, with traffic from the north diverted along the Boort-Mitiamo Road, through Mitiamo onto the Bendigo-Pyramid Road, and then south west onto Echuca-Serpentine Road.

Traffic management signs and electronic information boards will be installed the week before the works commencing.

GMW General Manager Infrastructure Delivery Services Warren Jose said GMW had liaised with local services to ensure residents would not be impacted during the road closure.

“To reduce unnecessary impact on residents, we have liaised with essential services such as Australia Post, school bus services, emergency services and waste collection so they can adjust their services accordingly,” Mr Jose said.

“We ask that drivers take extra care when travelling on these roads, as there will be increased traffic and heavy vehicles in the area.”
