The new Managing Director of Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) is John Calleja, GMW Board
Chair Sarah Scales announced today.
“Over the past six months the Board conducted an extensive national search for a new
Managing Director, and considered a strong field of candidates,“ Ms Scales said.
“As part of the process the Board considered the critical role GMW has in regional
communities across Northern Victoria, the strong foundations currently established within the
business, and the need to continue to deliver on our strategic directions.
“John’s experience, knowledge of the water sector and his strong leadership demonstrated
that he is best placed to lead GMW into the future.
“As Chief Financial Officer for the past four years, John has an intimate knowledge of the
business, and is best positioned to continue to lead GMW’s journey as a truly customer
focussed and highly commercial water corporation.
“Critical to GWM’s future direction will be delivering the final stages of GMW’s $2 billion
Connections Project which is modernising the irrigation infrastructure in the Goulburn Murray
Irrigation District, and importantly overseeing the integration of this project into GMW’s
