Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) will be undertaking essential maintenance and upgrade works at one of the gates at Yarrawonga Weir.
The works will require a temporary closure of Weir Road, also known as the Yarrawonga Weir Stock Crossing Road, from Monday, December 4 to Friday, December 15 2017. The road will be closed 24 hours for the two-week period.
Detour signage will be in place to direct road users to the alternative bridge route, known as the Main Traffic Bridge.
GMW General Manager Customer Operations, Scott Barber, said the temporary closure will allow a large crane to install stoplogs into the gate to dewater the area and complete the maintenance. The crane will also remove some mechanical equipment from the gate.
“The planned works at the weir mean the storage is maintained and in good condition to store and deliver water to our customers,” Mr Barber said.
The walkway downstream of Weir Road will remain open during this time for pedestrians and cyclists.
“We appreciate the cooperation of road users while we undertake these important maintenance works,” Mr Barber said.
