Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) has extended the deadline for expressions of interest from our customers, communities and stakeholders to help us progress key projects arising from our Strategic Plan development.
GMW’s role is to efficiently manage, store and deliver water to more than 21,000 active customers involved in a diverse range of enterprises and interests across northern Victoria.
“We are in a challenging and changing environment that is set to continue in coming years, with changing climate and international markets impacting on our customers and GMW,” Managing Director Pat Lennon said.
Mr Lennon said GMW has developed and is now implementing its Strategic Plan in response to these challenges, to ensure GMW remains sustainable now and into the foreseeable future. This includes ensuring water is delivered to customers at an affordable price and that deliveries are meeting expected service standards.
To further that work, GMW is calling for expressions of interest to several important projects: the development of a 25-Year Goulburn-Murray Irrigation District (GMID) Asset Strategy and the development of a Tariff and Pricing Review.
The original deadline of Friday, November 3 has been extended by two weeks. Interested customers, stakeholders and members of the community now have until Friday November 17, 2017 to nominate for these important projects.
“We’re aware our irrigation customers, in particular, have had a very busy start to the season,” Mr Lennon said. “We’ve extended our deadline to ensure all interested people who can make a contribution to our collective future have had sufficient time to consider applying.”
The role of the 25-Year GMID Strategy Working Group will be to provide objective input and advice to GMW about:
• The future service needs of customers within the GMID;
• Innovative capital and/or maintenance activities on GMW assets that will assist in reducing the future cost of maintaining and renewing the assets; and
• The opportunities to optimise the use of assets within the GMID.
There are six Tariff and Pricing Review Working Groups reflecting our customer base. These are: Gravity Irrigation and Drainage, Regulated Diverters, Domestic and Stock Water Works, Pumped Irrigation, Unregulated and Groundwater Diverters and Bulkwater customers. These working groups will provide objective input and advice to GMW about:
• The future service needs of customers as they relate to pricing options;
• Pricing considerations from separate reviews of innovative capital and/or maintenance activities on GMW assets that will assist in reducing the future cost of assets;
• Pricing considerations from separate reviews of the opportunities to optimise the use extent of assets within GMW’s area of operations; and
• How we enhance customer understanding about the revised Tariff and Pricing Strategy.
Applicants are required to fill out an expression of interest application form addressing selection criteria which includes: a sound understanding of the needs of customers within GMW’s area of operations; an ability to represent a range of views to the working group; a demonstrated understanding of GMW’s operations; an understanding and ability to objectively discuss the relationship between customer service levels and asset infrastructure costs; interest in encouraging investment in the GMW region.
Application forms, and the terms of reference for the working groups, can be found at the “join a working group” link on the GMW website, www.gmwater.com.au or call us on 1800 013 357.
Expressions of interest need to be received by 4.45pm on Friday, November 17, 2017 and can be sent to:
PO Box 165
Tatura VIC 3616
Alternatively it can be emailed to email@example.com or hand-delivered to 40 Casey St, Tatura.
GMW will acknowledge the receipt of your application and will notify all applicants of the outcome prior to Friday, December 15, 2017.
