A study on the feasibility of relaxing constraints in Northern Victoria was released on June 26.
The study aims to provide the Victorian Government with a better understanding of the environmental and social benefits and risks of relaxing or removing constraints (such as low-lying bridges, crossings and other infrastructure or changes to river operating rules or practices) that prevent the river from connecting to the floodplain.
The study is the result of two years of investigation, consultation and technical work overseen by a committee of key stakeholders including landholders, Goulburn-Murray Water, environmental agencies, Traditional Owners, local government and representative bodies.
