Shepparton’s Aaron Cuthbert is passionate about helping his community having been selected for the Fairley Leadership Program’s 2026 cohort.
The program is designed to encourage community-based leadership within the Goulburn Murray region.
Candidates from various sectors across the region are assessed based on their leadership potential and commitment to supporting the community.
Aaron has been with Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) since March 2022. He holds a key role within the Finance Team and working as the water corporation’s Lead Pricing Analyst.
He also recently joined the board of the Shepparton Golf Club as its director of finance and chair of its audit and risk committee.
“Helping out the community is something I’ve been wanting to do for years,” he said.
“I’ve been involved with the Shepparton Golf Club for some time now and joining its board felt like a good way of giving back to the community.”
Aaron said he was excited to be part of the program and to learn how others taking part in it dealt with difficult situations.
“I’m eager to understand more about different points of view at looking at problems,” he said.
“I want to learn more about different aspects of business particularly on the governance and strategy side of things. I also want to improve my leadership skills by taking part in this program.
“By doing all of this, I want to see how I can use these new skills to help my community.”
GMW Manager Finance Tracey Hood said she believed Aaron would thrive in the program.
“Aaron is a great asset to GMW and works hard not just for us but for the community as well,” she said.
“It’s brilliant to see that he’s part of this year’s program and I look forward to seeing how it will benefit the community as well as our organisation.”
