Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) is encouraging people to submit their expressions of interest in the Loch Garry community reference group before applications close on Monday 20 November.
The reference group will make recommendations on future service state of the Loch Garry flood regulator, and the price structure of the Loch Garry Flood Protection service.
Their advice will then inform the Loch Garry Flood Protection District Future Service Strategy.
GMW Strategy and Service Planning general manager Steven Abbott said it was an opportune time to review the future of the infrastructure and the flood protection service.
“The Loch Garry flood regulator was constructed in 1925. It has been well-maintained in the intervening years, but is now approaching the end of its lifespan,” he said.
“In reviewing the infrastructure at Loch Garry, it is also a good time to reassess the price structure of the flood protection service and test the sustainability of future models.
“It is crucial to us that the people who will be impacted by the future of the service are at the centre of the decision-making process, so we are eager for customers and community representatives who are interested to apply to be part of the group.”
The Loch Garry flood regulator provides protection from minor to moderate flooding for downstream landowners in the Bunbartha/Deep Creek area.
Expressions of interest for the Loch Garry Future Service Strategy close at 5pm on Monday 20 November 2023.
