Pumped Districts Customer Committee

GMW’s Pumped Districts Customer Committee represents our pumped irrigation district customers, with three customers each from the Nyah, Tresco and Woorinen regions for a total of nine members.

The third position of the Woorinen region is currently vacant.

Members of our Pumped Districts Customer Committee will be able to raise issues and opportunities, and have input into a range of initiatives such as:

  • The Pumped Irrigation District Future Services Strategy
  • Scenario planning for GMW’s drought and climate action responses
  • GMW’s Pricing Submission 2028-2032
  • GMW’s asset management profiling
  • Drainage service levels and costs
  • Victoria’s Place of Take Approvals framework
  • Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action’s (DEECA) deeming review
  • Improvements to GMW’s services and customer experience
  • Meeting with other agencies such as DEECA, Agriculture Victoria and Catchment Management Authorities

The Pumped Districts Customer Committee will meet at least once a year, as well as attending an annual summit.

Committee members

Nyah

Jarrod Tonkin

A diverse background of 25 years employed in a range of roles, from agronomy to agriculture funds management. Has a financial interest in horticulture, growing stone fruit and citrus on his property in the Woorinen district. Currently employed as general manager at Flexi Grain.

Michael Boulton

Brings 32 years in irrigated agriculture and water markets, backed by meaningful community roots - 30 years on a local cricket club committee and a voice for winegrape growers on Swan Hill Council.

Sean Croft

Lifelong farmer and business owner with irrigation, ag sales, and leadership experience. Maintains solid industry networks and grassroots understanding.

Tresco

Kevin Grivell

Agronomist with 30+ years’ experience and a degree in applied science (agriculture). Manages an irrigation farm in Tresco. Active Country Fire Authority member in Lake Boga.

Colin Free

Vineyard owner/operator with 45 years of irrigation experience in Tresco. Skills include a common-sense approach, local networks, and a future-focused mindset.

Nathan Free

Seasoned committee contributor with knowledge of irrigated farming in Tresco. Strong grower networks, and a passion for vibrant, productive local communities.

Woorinen

Peta Thornton

A skilled communicator and Swan Hill councillor with water policy knowledge, committed to conservation and primary production. Offers diverse networks and clear, thoughtful judgment.

Mick Tempini

A passionate advocate for sustainable agriculture and regional development, and a long-term customer of GMW. Brings a practical, community-focused perspective to water management and is committed to supporting productive and environmentally responsible farming practices. Has a background in horticulture and stone fruit production, and is a past president of his local grower group.
