Boating Information
Be aware of possible hazards caused by the recent floods
Currently all G-MW storages are open to boating. G-MW encourages boaters to be vigilant at all times while boating on storages. Following recent floods there may be floating flood debris which can be a hazard to high speed boating. G-MW advises boat operators to wear personal floatation devises, maintain a lookout for hazards at all times and to use only designated boat ramps.
Any changes to local boating restrictions are signposted at boat ramps and around the storages.
Exposed Areas at Lakes
Visitors to Goulburn-Murray storages are reminded that as storage levels drop during irrigation season, significant areas of the various lakes can be exposed.
Exposed areas of the lake bed are environmentally sensitive and should be treated with respect. These areas can also be dangerous and visitors should exercise caution, especially in areas where vehicles may become bogged and where there are obstructions such as tree stumps and overgrown depressions.
Boat operators are asked to exercise great caution and be aware of and adhere to all safety restrictions, particularly when levels are low.
