The Strathbogie Groundwater Management Area Plan has been released for comment. Groundwater users and members of the wider community are encouraged to comment on the draft plan before Friday 7 June 2013.

All submissions will be considered by GMW before the draft plan is finalised in July 2013.

GMW will hold a community meeting to discuss the draft groundwater management plan on Wednesday 29 May 2013 at 1pm in the Old Flour Mill Gallery, 17 Kirkland Avenue, Euroa.

For a copy of the draft groundwater management plan and/or submission for, please look under Resources on this page or call Krystle Gillingham at GMW on 1800 013 357.

Goulburn-Murray Water has established the Strathbogie Groundwater Management Area (GMA). The Strathbogie GMA extends from the Strathbogie Ranges to north of Violet Town and east of Nagambie and includes the upper and middle Sevens Creeks, Hughes Creek and Honeysuckle Creek Catchments.

Proposed Management Plan

The draft plan was developed in consultation with local groundwater users, the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority and the Department of Environment & Primary Industries.

The draft plan provides a clear framework for managing groundwater in the Strathbogie GMA and considers both the benefits of using groundwater and the needs of high value environmental assets.

The plan provides guidance about where groundwater development may occur and puts in place arrangements to manage current and future groundwater use; such as trading rules and caps on new licence entitlement.
