Allocation Updates Announced

Goulburn-Murray Water today increased seasonal allocations in the Goulburn and Murray systems, and eased delivery restrictions in the Broken and Loddon systems. Customers in the Campaspe system received a small allocation. The Bullarook Creek system remains at zero allocation.

The Goulburn system allocation was increased by 3% to 23% and the gravity irrigation season extended to 30 April 2008. The allocation in the Murray system is 16% of high-reliability water shares, an increase of 6%.

No changes were made to the 15% Broken system and 5% Loddon system allocations. Goulburn-Murray Water has lifted the 31 October 2007 delivery limit in the Broken and Loddon systems, and will allow diversions throughout the season. Continuous access to water is available until 31 October 2007, with access after 31 October to be rostered to ensure efficient use of limited resources in these systems.

Customers in the Campaspe system have been given a 1% allocation of high-reliability water shares. All orders on the Campaspe will be rostered to minimise system losses.

There is not enough water in the Bullarook Creek system to meet all qualified right commitments for the whole season. Goulburn-Murray Water is assessing bridging allocation options to make some irrigation and all qualified rights available.

The seasonal outlooks for all systems have declined as recent rainfall totals remain well below average. Inflow volumes to the major storages are now less than those assumed for the ‘Dry' conditions and an additional ‘Very Dry' outlook has been provided in the outlook tables below, which use the following terminology:

‘Wet'               - Inflow volumes that have 1 chance in 10 of being exceeded

‘Average'         - Inflow volumes that have 5 chances in 10 of being exceeded

‘Dry'                - Inflow volumes that have 9 chances in 10 of being exceeded

‘Very Dry'        - Inflow volumes that have 9.9 chances in 10 of being exceeded
