5 Knot Boating Speed restrictions reinstated at Laanecoorie Reservoir
With storage levels now below the safe boating level, in the interest of public safety Goulburn-Murray Water (G-MW) in consultation with Marine Safety Victoria has reintroduced a 5 knot boating speed restriction at Laanecoorie Reservoir.
According to G-MW Manager Goulburn/Loddon Dams Ivan Smith, Laanacoorie's water level has fallen as a result of low rainfall and inflows along with increased evaporation due to the warmer spring temperatures.
"Boating at a speed in excess of 5 knots for any purpose is prohibited until further notice," said Mr Smith.
All boat operators should familiarise themselves with the current vessel operating rules displayed on signage at the public boat launching ramp in Brownbill's Reserve. Vessel operators should also familiarise themselves with mandatory Marine Safety requirements for safety boating and general boating rules and regulations.
Boating at speed of 5 knots or below is still permitted on the storage.
