Alternative water supply to Mokoan diverters progressing well

The design of an alternative water supply scheme for diverters at Lake Mokoan is progressing well, and expressions of interest are now being sought from contractors to manage its construction.

The alternative scheme, being developed by Goulburn-Murray Water, is a key part of the Mokoan - Return to Wetlands project and will ensure that diverters' water supply access is maintained once the lake is returned to wetlands.

The alternative water supply scheme is separate to the offset measures designed to maintain reliability of the Broken irrigation system.

Investigations into an alternative scheme have progressed well over the last few months and a preferred configuration of the required structures has been selected. Engineering consultants URS Australia have now been engaged to finalise the design of the scheme.

Goulburn-Murray Water is now seeking expressions of interests from contractors to undertake the construction, which will begin as soon as the design is completed.

The design of the new scheme will involve determining pipeline, pump station and storage sites.

Goulburn-Murray Water has been providing each customer with information to help them understand their access to the scheme and to provide an opportunity to raise any queries regarding the scheme's design, construction and operation.

Further information about the alternative water supply scheme is available by calling The Project Office on 02 5761 1611, and information about the Mokoan project can be found at www.lakemokoan.com.
