Further 'back trade' ballot opportunity

Friday 22 December, 2006

Goulburn-Murray Water announced today the next opportunity to ‘back trade' water from the Murray to the Goulburn system will occur in mid January 2007, as a result of the 15 December increase of 1% in the Goulburn system allocation.

This means that 860 megalitres are now available for trade from the Murray to the Goulburn system and will assist Goulburn customers with another avenue to source water in this severe drought.

Should the next allocation announcements due on 2 and 15 January allow for any further volume increase, this volume will be added to the current volume available and included in the ‘back trade'.

"As has occurred in the past, if the total volume of applications received exceeds the available trading opportunity, we will conduct a ballot to select the successful applications," said Trevor Ierino, Manager Business and Finance.

Private traders will have until 4.45pm on Monday 15 January 2007 to submit their temporary trade applications to Goulburn-Murray Water at Tatura. Results from this trading opportunity will be available from Monday 22 January 2007.
