Today's opening of a new Kerang office confirms Goulburn-Murray Water 's commitment to customer service and the future of irrigation in the region.
The Koondrook Road building was officially opened earlier today by the Treasurer, John Brumby, in a ceremony at the new site, directly east of the old office site.
Goulburn-Murray Water Chairperson Don Cummins said he welcomed the opening of the office, as it makes an important commitment to the area's future.
""The new office replaces the old portable buildings that housed our employees for 18 years,"" Mr Cummins said.
""In order to deliver high quality services, we need to provide appropriate facilities. This office maintains a local point of contact for customers in the Kerang region and provides an efficient work environment for staff.
""We were particularly pleased that Minister Brumby officially opened the office because it provides a strong demonstration of the importance of irrigation in this region and displays great confidence for the local community.
""We look forward to continuing and building on our strong relationships with customers and the community from these new facilities.""
The new office houses 45 employees who service an area from Torrumbarry Weir to Mildura, and south to the Dividing Range.
Employee groups in the building include Torrumbarry area management, asset projects, and environmental and natural resource services staff.
The building features state-of-the-art systems and native plants that will minimise water and energy use and maintenance costs.
The Torrumbarry Water Services Committee has also welcomed and supported the opening of the new building, as it both satisfies the need for improved accommodation and sends a strong message about confidence in the region's future.
