Irrigators and rural water users across Goulburn-Murray Water's (G-MW) service region can now nominate to join their local G-MW Water Services Committee.
G-MW Chairman, Llew Vale said Water Services Committees were invaluable for their customer representation ensuring the views and experiences of all irrigation and other rural water customers were conveyed to the Board and G-MW to help inform policies and local operations in critical areas such as pricing, service standards and asset management.
"Customers can nominate for one of 32 positions available on 8 of our Water Services Committees to join a network of nearly 100 fellow Water Services Committee members," said Mr Vale.
"Over recent months, G-MW has been consulting with our current Committees on a range of issues including next season's proposed pricing, our next three year Water Plan, G-MW's response to the draft MDBA Plan as well as the future structure of G-MW," Mr Vale said.
"While the primary role of our Water Services Committees is to advise G-MW, they provide valuable insight for incorporating customer's views into G-MW's submissions and feedback into key Victorian and Federal water issues," Mr Vale said.
"I would encourage anyone who is interested in joining their Water Services Committee or would like to know more, to contact their local G-MW Customer Service Centre or make contact with a current committee member," Mr Vale said.
G-MW will call for nominations up until Friday 25 May 2012. If there are more nominations than vacancies in a particular committee then a ballot will be held.
Advertisements have appeared in local newspapers providing further information about becoming a G-MW Water Services Committee member. Information kits and nomination forms are available from G-MW's local Customer Service Centres and online at www.g-mwater.com.au/wsc.
"It has been a busy first half of the year and it will continue to be busy and challenging and we hope a rewarding time for all Water Services Committee members into the future," said Mr Vale.
Customers are encouraged to nominate or to encourage others to nominate, for a Water Services Committee position, so that a range of farming enterprises, skills, experiences and gender are represented.
"New members are very welcome, their energy and fresh ideas add value to our Water Services Committees and ensure the Committee's remain relevant, up-to-date and effective," said Mr Vale.
Nominations for positions close 5 pm Friday 25 May 2012. For further information visit www.g-mwater.com.au/wsc.
