Goulburn-Murray Water General Manager, Catchment Services, Graeme Hannan said this is the highest allocation that the area has received since 2004/05 and demonstrates that the aquifer is continuing to recover strongly from groundwater level declines experienced during the drought.

Allocations are based on the interim management rules in place for the Lower Campaspe Valley which are available at www.g-mwater.com.au/water-resources/ground-water.

Goulburn-Murray Water will continue to operate using the Lower Campaspe Valley WSPA interim management rules until the recently submitted draft groundwater management plan is approved by the Minister for Water.

The Lower Campaspe Valley WSPA has over 140 licensed customers and extends from Lake Eppalock to the River Murray, and incorporates the towns of Echuca, Pine Grove, Lockington, Rochester, Elmore, Goornong, Barnadown, Fosterville and Axedale.
