Goulburn Murray Water (G-MW) today announced an annual groundwater allocation of 100% for all zones of the Mid Loddon Groundwater Management Area (GMA) for the 2011/12 season.
G-MW Acting General Manager Water Services, Graeme Hannan said low groundwater use and increased rainfall during the 2010/11 season has enabled aquifers to recover, with groundwater levels in some areas of the GMA experiencing rising by up to 5 metres over the past year.
"Allocations will remain at 100% for the whole season which is good news for the more than 90 customers who rely on groundwater for irrigation, commercial operations and urban supply." said Mr Hannan.
During the 2010/11 season, customers used less than 10% of their entitlement. Most customers will be able to use their maximum carryover volume, which is 30% of their entitlement in the 2011/12 season.
The Mid-Loddon GMA extends from Moolort in the south to Calivil and Mitiamo in the north. The zones of the Mid-Loddon GMA are 1011 Moolort, 1012 Laanecoorie-Serpentine and 1013 Jarklin.
