Goulburn-Murray Water's (G-MW) 2010/11 groundwater annual reports for the Katunga Water Supply Protection Area (WSPA) and the Shepparton Irrigation Region WSPA are now available.
G-MW Acting General Manager Water Services, Graeme Hannan said that it is important for customers who use groundwater resources in these areas to refer to the reports for an understanding of the condition of the aquifers.
‘Summaries which describe the status of the resource, particularly in terms of current groundwater levels and groundwater use, are included within each report,' said Mr Hannan.
‘The annual reports discuss key activities such as compliance, metering and monitoring, which must be administered by G-MW in accordance with the Groundwater Management Plan developed for each area.' Mr Hannan added.
The Katunga WSPA extends from just west of Yarrawonga to Barmah and from the River Murray to just south of Numurkah. The Shepparton Irrigation Region WSPA extends from Yarrawonga in the north-east to Murchison in the south and across to Echuca in the west.
The groundwater annual reports are available from the G-MW website at www.g-mwater.com.au/policy/groundwater-management-plans-redirect or through G-MW's Shepparton, Cobram and Rochester offices.
