Goulburn-Murray Water (G-MW) today confirmed the annual 4% limit on the volume of water shares that can be traded out of an Irrigation Area has now been reached for high-reliability water shares (HRWS) in 6 Irrigation Areas, with the HRWS limits reached in the Loddon Valley (formerly Pyramid-Boort), Rochester and Torrumbarry Irrigation Areas late on Friday.
G-MW Acting Managing Director, Ian Moorhouse confirmed G-MW has processed more than 400 of the 858 ballot applications for water share transactions received this year, representing a volume of just over
51,000 ML.
It is not anticipated that the 4% limits will be reached during ballot application processing for the remaining two irrigation areas, Campaspe and Nyah, Tresco and Woorinen.
"We will continue processing the applications for the remaining areas in balloted order. Small volumes remain available under some of the irrigation area 4% limits so some applications for very small volumes further down the ballot queue may still be approved if opportunity remains under the limit when the application is processed," said Mr Moorhouse.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their ballot application over the next few weeks and for those refused due to the 4% limit, a refund of the application fee will be issued.
Updates on water trading and the 4% limit are available from the Victorian Water Register at www.waterregister.vic.gov.au/Public/Reports/WaterTradeFourPercent.aspx. The information is updated live as applications are processed by G-MW and interested parties should refer to the current status of the limits prior to lodging applications which are affected by the 4% limit.
