G-MW completes processing of 2011 water share ballot applications

Tuesday 23 August, 2011

Goulburn-Murray Water (G-MW) completed processing of water share applications received as part of the 2011/2012 water share ballot last week.

The annual 4% limit on the volume of water that can be traded out of an Irrigation Area for high-reliability water shares (HRWS) has been reached in all Irrigation Areas except Campaspe and the combined areas of Nyah, Tresco and Woorinen.

G-MW Acting Managing Director Ian Moorhouse said this year's ballot progressed smoothly with further improvement in processing times.

"We continue to improve our processing procedures, but this year we have also seen an improvement in the completeness and accuracy of applications and this has also helped improve processing times," said Mr Moorhouse.

"All applicants and lodging parties have now been notified of the outcome of their applications.. However if there are applicants who have not received notification we encourage them to contact their lodging party or broker before calling G-MW," said Mr Moorhouse.

Over the coming weeks G-MW will issue refunds to applicants whose ballot application was refused due to the 4% limit.
