The Lake Boga Coordination Committee (LBCC) reminds residents that private works to the Reserve or foreshore require a planning permit before construction.
Goulburn-Murray Water, Swan Hill Rural City Council, North Central Catchment Management Authority and Department of Sustainability and Environment are the agencies represented on the LBCC.
G-MW Managing Director David Stewart said that the committee, with G-MW as the lead agency, had been formed to secure the statutory responsibilities for agencies to manage the Lake's water storage, foreshore and recreation functions.
"Lake Boga has now been reinstated as a key component of the Victorian Mid Murray Storages and will operate to meet downstream water demands," Mr Stewart said.
"To ensure adequate flow and for safety reasons, we are requesting that any landholders considering undertaking development works, ensure they have municipal planning permits for all developments at Lake Boga," Mr Stewart said.
"The LBCC has been alerted to structures and works that have been built by private landholders on the Water Reserve and Crown Land in the vicinity of the lake foreshore, which may pose safety risks to users and the community," Mr Stewart said.
"The municipal planning permit application process requires landholders to obtain prior approval from the respective Crown Land Manager, if the planned works are to encroach onto the Water Reserve or nearby Crown Land," Mr Stewart said.
"Swan Hill Rural City Council's planning department can advise landholders intending to undertake development works and provide advice on boundary alignments between freehold land and Crown Land," Mr Stewart said.
