G-MW completes processing of Ballot applications

Wednesday 8 September, 2010

Goulburn-Murray Water (G-MW) announced today it has completed processing of water share applications received as part of the 2010 Water Share Ballot. G-MW was able to approve 588 of the 877 applications received including 512 high reliability water shares applications involving more than 69,800 ML along with 74 low reliability water share applications involving nearly 5,384 ML.

G-MW Managing Director David Stewart said this year's ballot progressed smoothly with further improvement in processing times.

"We continue to improve our processing procedures, but this year we have also seen an improvement in the completeness and accuracy of applications and this has also helped improve processing times," said Mr Stewart.

The 4% annual limits on the volume of water shares transferred from an Irrigation Area have been reached for high reliability water shares (HRWS) in all of G-MW Irrigation Areas but not in the Campaspe Irrigation District and the pumped districts of Nyah, Tresco and Woorinen.

Over the next fortnight G-MW will issue refunds to applicants who were unsuccessful due to the 4% limit.

"All applicants and lodging party has been notified of the outcome of application as it was processed. However if there are applicants who have not received notification we encourage them to contact their lodging party or broker before calling G-MW," said Mr Stewart.

With ballot applications completed, G-MW will now commence processing of applications received since 9 July 2010. G-MW will continue to process water share transfer applications that are not affected or exempted from the 4% limits.
