Staff from Goulburn-Murray Water who donated a day of their leave to participate in Annual Golf and Bowls Charity Days, along with sponsors, have raised $15,000 for the Goulburn Valley Regional Branch of St Vincents de Paul.
G-MW Managing Director David Stewart said the funds will be used by St Vincents to provide drought assistance to local farmers.
“G-MW has over 600 staff that all live and work in these communities and in these times of unrelenting drought conditions it is an opportunity for us to give back to our communities,” Mr Stewart said.
The Golf and Bowls Charity day started in 1971, and through staff and sponsors participating, has raised over $260,000 dollars since its inception with all the funds raised going to local charities across G-MW’s region.
All money raised from the event is contributed by staff and sponsors, no customer funds are used.
Twenty eight local sponsors were involved in this years event and 148 staff participated.
Organisers would like to thank major sponsors Blackwoods, Rubicon, and Sinclair Knight Merz and many other local companies for their continued support.
The $15,000 is from funds raised at previous golf days. Funds raised from this years event will be distributed once the final total raised is known and the local charities have been identified.
