Further Information
Goulburn-Murray Water (G-MW), the resource manager for northern Victorian water systems, today announced allocation increases for the Murray and Goulburn systems and an opening allocation for the Bullarook system. The allocations in the Broken, Campaspe and Loddon systems remain unchanged at zero.
The Murray system allocation is 60% of high-reliability water shares (HRWS), which is an increase of 3%. The seasonal allocation in the Goulburn system is 49% HRWS, which is an increase of 3%. The Bullarook system receives an allocation of 6% HRWS.
"The increased allocations for the Murray and Goulburn systems were generated by the combined effects of relatively low demand and better than worst case inflows, evaporation and operating requirements," said G-MW's Resource Manager, Graeme Hannan. "The Bullarook allocation has come from an improvement in the balance between resource position and the system's operating requirements for the rest of the season. It's a small percentage, but it is the first allocation the Bullarook system has received since 2006/07."
The next allocation announcement will be issued on Monday 4 January 2010.
