Strong support for Mitiamo pipeline continues

Sunday 30 April, 2017

Mitiamo property owners and stakeholders have again shown their strong community support for a domestic and stock pipeline to serve the district.

More than 50 people attended the final open day on the project, allowing them to voice their support for the pipeline, view preliminary design plans and ask any questions.

The event, held on April 26 at Mitiamo Football Club, followed on from an earlier well-attended community information session and 183 one-on-one consultations with property owners.

Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) is developing the business case for a reliable stock and domestic water supply in Mitiamo, which will be put to government later this year.

GMW Mitiamo Project Manager Jamie Cowan said there has been a high level of support, interest and positive feedback on the pipeline concept throughout the consultation process.

The latest information session, attended by five GMW customer service managers, provided property owners with more detail on the likely location of the pipeline and an indication of its cost to potential future customers.

“People were able to discuss in detail issues concerning their particular property and needs, like how many service points they might require,” Mr Cowan said.

Stakeholders, including Parks Victoria and the Country Fire Authority, have added their own support for the pipeline.

Mr Cowan encouraged people to continue providing their feedback before the business case is lodged later this year. You can submit your feedback to the Mitiamo Project Manager on 1800 013 357.

The next stage is to survey the pipeline route, finalise the design and make the final layout available to the public.
