Two public meetings will seek community input on a review of the Mid-Loddon Groundwater Management Area (GMA) Local Management Rules.
The Mid-Loddon GMA extends from Tullaroop Reservoir in the south to Mitiamo in the north, and there are more than 100 groundwater licence holders in this area.
Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) Manager Groundwater and Streams Matthew Pethybridge said the rules were endorsed for implementation in 2009 following extensive community consultation.
The aim of the rules is to make sure that the groundwater resources are managed in an equitable manner to ensure the long-term sustainability of those resources.
“The meetings will provide an opportunity for community members to discuss the success of the rules and ideas for improvement,” he said.
Two meetings will take place Thursday October 12, 2017. The first to be held at 9.30am at Serpentine Bowling Club, Peppercorn Way, Serpentine; and the second to be held at 1.30pm at Baringhup Hall, Cairn Curran Hall Rd, Baringhup.
“We highly value the contribution the community has to make,” Mr Pethybridge said.
If you wish to discuss the review of the groundwater management rules please phone Brendan Cossens at GMW on (03) 5475 3907.
