Blue-green algae warnings removed for Waranga Basin and multiple irrigation areas

Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) has removed the blue-green algae warnings for Waranga Basin, Central Goulburn channels 7, 8 and 9, Rochester Irrigation Area, Loddon Valley Irrigation Area, East Loddon Water District and West Loddon Water District following a significant decline in blue-green algae levels.

GMW will continue to undertake regular water quality monitoring and if blue‑green algae reach levels deemed unsafe by national health guidelines a warning will be issued.

Blue-green algae warnings remain current for Lake Eppalock, Laanecoorie and Tullaroop Reservoirs and Hepburns Lagoon.

Customers are reminded that water supplied by GMW is not suitable for human consumption without first being properly treated.
