Fewer applications for annual water share ballot

G-MW conducted the 2010 water share ballot on Monday 12 July. Following the ballot G-MW are now processing applications. Applicants will be notified once their application has been processed. G-MW will begin processing applications received after 9 July when all applications submitted during the ballot period have been processed.

A total of 877 applications were received for 130,000 ML, down more than 10% on last year's number of applications and the volume of water shares is 30% lower.

Applicants and the general public can monitor progress against the 4% limits on the Victorian Water Register's website by viewing the 4% trade out limit report. This report is updated live as G-MW approves applications.

The ballot only applies to water share applications. Processing of water allocation (including carryover) transactions commenced last week.

Water Register Annual ABA statements mailed shortly

The Water Register will shortly issue ABA statements. The annual statements provide a record of all the transactions into and out of your account during the 2009/10 season.

Too many ABAs?

Under previous carryover rules, some Goulburn, Murray and Campaspe system customers requested additional ABAs to allow them to separate their high and low reliability water shares to maximise their carryover. The improved carryover rules for these systems remove the need for extra ABAs to maximise carryover. G-MW encourages you to seek advice from an experienced professional adviser to review your ABAs and consider more appropriate arrangements in line with your business operations.
