Farm Exploratory Drilling Scheme (FEDS)
The Farm Exploratory Drilling Scheme provides landholders with assistance in locating suitable sites for the installation of shallow groundwater pumps involving:
- assessment of site eligibility
- electromagnetic survey to locate potential groundwater sites
- exploratory drilling
- wellpoint installation if a suitable site is located
- groundwater pumping test
Landholders must register with G-MW and pay a $825 deposit. If investigation is successful, the deposit is retained by G-MW and 25% of the total investigation will be charged if the pump is not installed within two years. If the investigation is unsuccessful, the deposit is refunded and no costs are incurred by the applicant.
